For my use case, GitHub Markdown + versioning covers most of what you’re using Obsidian for, but it's pretty clunky. Sometimes that's good, though: I end up understanding more that way. Vibe coding is the new "Can AI Be Funny?"!

The agent-agnostic framing is what got me. I've been burned too many times in the past by coupling my notes too tightly to whatever tool I'm currently excited about.

Obsidian's plain markdown vault as the substrate makes so much sense here; Claude Code reads it super efficiently. My main concern is running the entire vault - and all projects - in a single folder that is completely under Claude Code's control. You're still one overeager "rm -rf obsidian_vault" command away from Claude nuking everything in a moment of insanity.

That never gelled with me so I tried to build my own thing. But if you have the confidence in your LLM to give it full control over all of your files, nothing will beat the simplicity and simplicity of the Obsidian vault in a Claude Code folder.
